September 2010 Band Director NewsJazz Band Director News for September 2010
Hello Jazz Band Directors!
In the last few months we here at Jazz Lines Publications have been busily preparing many manuscripts for publication including several arrangements each from Mary Lou Williams, Benny Carter, Gil Evans,
Supersax, and the Terry Gibbs Dream Band.
While we're especially proud of the historic arrangements we publish, we're also always excited to annouce great new arrangements that come from other publishers. We're
pleased to report that Sierra Music and Lush Life Music are also both committed to publishing historic arrangements, many of which have never been published before. In addition,
publishers like Hal Leonard, Walrus, Alfred, FJH, Barnhouse, Kendor, and others are releasing important, newly composed works. Combining historic and contemporary titles within
a program is a great way to expose your band and your audience to a wide range of sounds and styles.
As for us here at Jazz Lines Publications, we'll have numerous fantastic arrangements coming out before the end of the year including more from Charlie Parker with Strings, Benny Carter,
Mary Lou Williams, the Terry Gibbs Dream Band, Supersax, Gerry Mulligan, and Oliver Nelson. Please feel free to email or phone us with comments or suggestions. We have a lot of great releases of historic arrangements planned for this year.
Our mission will remain to restore and preserve America's musical heritage.
