Eb. Tribute to Ornette Coleman. Standard orchestration. Alto and drum feature. Not demanding in terms of ranges, and a tuneful, but challenging piece of music. A few time changes. Top lead trumpet note written C#. Commissioned by the Empire State Youth Orchestra. Starts of with an evocative ballad intro with soaring alto over the top. Then the tune, which is quirky, and rhythmically challenging. The tough rhythms are usually handled by the whole band, making it a fun and interesting exercise for them. The coda features a group "free" jam that is very fun for the students. Difficult.
