6/4 Trend, from French Horn Jazz, was originally released in 1954 on Trend Records [T-1005] and later on Kapp Records [KL-1046]; it was re-released on Lone Hill Jazz [LHJ10150] in 2004. French Horn Jazz was Graas' first solo release, and featured works by many of the people he frequently worked with, including Shorty Rogers, Jimmy Giuffre, and Nelson Riddle, as well as a few of his own compositions. 6/4 Trend has several innovative aspects, including its 6/4 meter (rhythm interpreted as 4+2), a bit of tonal ambiguity, a solo section that is harmonically static, and a wind section that is pretty thick. There is a percussion montuno figure that may be played on snare (with snares off), high tom, or bongo. Alternate parts are included that may be used in place of the bass saxophone and horn in F.
