WEST END BLUES

AS PERFORMED BY LOUIS ARMSTRONG

TRANSCRIBED BY DAVID BERGER

Here is a classic if there ever was one! This King Oliver chart was recorded by Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five in 1928. All ensemble and solo parts have been written out, though chord changes have been provided in the event that you want to open it up for solos.

Essential Jazz Editions are scores for jazz ensembles transcribed from classic jazz recordings. This 10-year project, co-produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, and the Music Division, Library of Congress, begun in 1999, will ultimately represent the breadth of the jazz canon. A set of five charts is produced and published each year, beginning with early jazz standards and continuing throughout the history of the music. Each original transcription includes historical and performance notes.
