One of Woody Herman's less well known works, "La Cucaracha" is nevertheless a great Latin arrangement by Billy May which develops this simple tune into a fine chart. The reeds are scored for CTTTB, but an optional alto part has been included to be played in lieu of the second tenor, giving you a CTATB section. Being a Herman chart, the solo spots are all for clarinet, and the sectional band writing is supportive of the soloist and blastingly powerful in the tutti sections. A fine transcription from Jon Harpin. There are no sax doubles.
