Hello again from ejazzlines!

Hi there to everyone! As we do have some truly excellent items which have been added to the site since the beginning of the month, we felt obliged to send out a brief mid-month update newsletter. As some of you are no doubt aware, the fantastic new World of Maynard Ferguson DVD is now available. This is a classic, and contains footage which is vintage Maynard, including outstanding playing, fine showmanship, and some truly hilarious moments. This is a limited edition, and we honestly do not know how many of these we will be able to obtain, but we have copies in stock as this is written. We also have a brand new DVD/CD package, Bud Shank Against the Tide, which is another fine item from Jazzed Media. It contains a documentary on the life of this jazz luminary, as well as a CD featuring some excellent and rare performances. Speaking of the unusual, we are also proud to present a new live/documentary DVD featuring Leo Wadada Smith titled Eclipse. His groundbreaking work has not been documented enough; this new DVD should change that situation.

Drummers everywhere should also take note of Jon Hazilla's new one on Brush Control. We also have quite a few more new DVDs since the last newsletter, including the reissues of both of Stu Hamm's Hot Licks bass DVDs, two Akira Jimbo drum DVDs, and live DVDs for blues lovers featuring Albert Collins, Roy Buchanan, and Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown.

The slight lack of exciting new books earlier this month has been clearly remedied, as many of our major publisher friends have been busy the last couple of weeks. Jamey Aebersold and Jerry Coker have combined to issue another budget-priced gem, Jerry's The Creative Nudge That Fuels Jazz Improvisation, a general guide to improving various aspects of one's practice, playing, and jazz outlook in general. Alfred just released a great-looking book for singers arranged by the master Dave Wolpe, Jazz Standards for Vocalists. On this same theme, Hal Leonard has just published a vocal play-along featuring the queen of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald Sing-Along. Mel Bay has also just issued another of their excellent drum books, Introduction to Swing-Style Drumming. Last, but most certainly not least, our friends at Sher have put out B flat, E flat, and Bass Clef editions of the Real Easy Book Volume 3, to go along with the previously released C edition, so there is now an edition of this phenomenal and truly unique new book for everyone. We also are proud to again have available noted educator John Mehegan's Jazz Improvisation 4 volume series.

In our next newsletter we will be announcing the release of several new jazz big band arrangements in our Jazz Lines Publications series including 3 new female vocals and 1 instrumental.

In our daily, nonstop and truly exhaustive effort to present all that is new and interesting, as of this newsletter we have added a total of 9 new big band arrangements for the month of April 2008 and 12 for March 2008; 39 new DVDs for the month of April 2008 and 37 for March 2008; 54 new music books for April 2008 and 33 for March 2008; 88 new CDs for the month of April 2008 and 95 for March 2008.

If you haven't visited our Imports and Rarities section lately, please check it out. We are now stocking more and more obscure, rare, and hard-to-find titles from Japan and Europe, including many titles that you may not be able to find elsewhere.

In our DVD section, we now carry nearly 1,600 jazz DVDs!

As always, please keep in mind that many of our new releases are available in limited quantities. We do our best to predict demand and fill orders as quickly as possible, but we do run out of new releases. Even if we run out of stock, everything featured in this newsletter should be available to ship within 3 weeks.

We thank you all again very sincerely for your continued support, and we hope everyone out there continues a wonderful spring!
