We are happy to announce that we finally have the brand new release of the Ellington/Strayhorn arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite in stock and ready for shipping. We know that many of you have waited years for this and it finally is here. This Alfred publication was painstakingly created from the original scores to accurately match the classic Columbia recording. This should be a welcome addition to the libraries of professional bands the world over, in time for holiday celebrations everywhere.

We wanted to make anyone in the greater Albany, NY area aware of an upcoming concert by the Empire Jazz Orchestra. The EJO, led by Dr. Bill Meckley, is made up of Albany-area professional jazz musicians. The setlist will include Jazz Lines Publications arrangements of Benny Carter's Sleep and When Lights Are Low, Mary Lou Williams's Scorpio and Lonely Moments, Duke Pearson's Unit 7, and Oliver Nelson's Monk's Point. The concert will be Tuesday, October 19th at 8 pm. For more information please visit: http://www.sunysccc.edu/academic/music/ejo/ejo.html.

We once again thank everyone for your support - it is sincerely appreciated every day of the year!

An open solo section has been added so that you may feature any number of soloists. In addition, optional B flat and E flat solo parts have been included so that this arrangement may be played with any guest soloist - not just a vibraphone soloist.

This new, authentic edition of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as arranged in 1960 by Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington was assembled from the original manuscripts held in the Strayhorn Repository and the Ellington Collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. For purposes of accuracy, the manuscripts were cross-checked carefully with the original Duke Ellington Orchestra recording.
