Hello again from ejazzlines!

We hope everyone has transitioned well from summertime back to work and school. We have been very busy with all of the generous educational customers we are fortunate to have, and we thank you all once again for making this a bustling September for us. As quite a few books and arrangements have been published recently, we are sending this mid-month update to keep everyone current on everything new that we have available at the beginning of this school year. We also once again encourage everyone in range of New York City to look into attending the first Jazz Improv Convention at the New Yorker Hotel on October 25-28. The lineup of musicians appearing is truly impressive.

JAZZ BAND DIRECTOR INFO:
We recognize that you have many choices of where you may order music from, so we have tried to assemble the most complete and user-friendly online catalog available. We carry nearly 3,000 arrangements from publishers located all over the world. We also have an educational program to provide our vast jazz catalog at discounted prices. All school band directors are automatically enrolled in our program and there is no minimum order to receive discounts. In addition, you may complete purchase orders directly on our website without the need of a credit card. For more information about our educational program, please email or phone us.

If you're hunting for some great jazz band arrangements you may view titles on our website by any of the following criteria: By Month of Release; By Performer (for famous arrangements); By Arranger; By Style; By Difficulty Level; Vocal Arrangements; Instrumental Features; Festival Suggestions; Opener/Closer Suggestions; Holiday Arrangements; Jazz at Lincoln Center Arrangements; and By Group Size (for small group and combo arrangements). If all else fails, contact us; we're happy to assist you with finding what you're looking for.

NEW DVDs:
We are very proud to announce the availability of the box set of the entire second series of the instant-classic Jazz Icons DVDs. This box set is a special one, as in addition to containing all seven of the individual DVDs, there is a bonus disc which contains performances by John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Dave Brubeck and Sarah Vaughan. This bonus disc truly makes this box set a wonderful collector's item.

Diana Krall has a brand new Very Best collection, which is available as a CD or a Deluxe Edition with a CD and a DVD. This month's new DVDs also feature quite a few guitar instructional DVDs for guitarists of all styles, as well as a new live DVD from the Super Guitar Trio. We also encourage everyone to check out the new release of Wynton Marsalis' 4 classic educational videos, Marsalis on Music. This DVD set is excellent for educators and all fans of music alike.

NEW BIG BAND ARRANGEMENTS:
We are pleased to announce that we have added the entire catalog of Really Good Music jazz big band arrangements. If you're not already familiar with them, Ron Keezer has developed a great catalog of titles featuring well-known arrangers, playable by most high school and college-level bands. If you've had a chance to visit our site lately you'll see how serious we are about our big band arrangement selection. We are constantly bringing in new arrangements from publishers as well as signing on new arrangers to build our catalog of independent charts. It's never too early to start preparing for your winter concerts. On this note, this month we're presenting a selection of our best-selling Christmas/holiday big band arrangements: Santa Baby (as recorded by Eartha Kitt); Home for the Holidays (male/female duet); Here Comes Santa Claus/Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (as recorded by Linda Eder); Jingle Bells (as recorded by the Andrews Sisters); Baby, It's Cold Outside (as recorded by Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer); O Holy Night (as recorded by Stan Kenton); You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch; and Christmas Time Is Here. Please see the Holiday Section of our site for a complete list of titles.

NEW CDs:
We just received a nice new batch of releases from Fresh Sound, including the new Maynard Ferguson offering Boys with Lots of...Brass. Dave McKenna recorded two piano solo sessions, one in 1955 and another in 1963, released here as Blues Up: Piano Solo. In 1958 Pete Rugolo went into the studio and re-created some of the great instrumentals made famous by the Stan Kenton orchestra of the 1940s. The title of this release is Rugolo Plays Kenton. Although Terry Gibbs has been heard in a variety of contexts, he appears here for the first time fronting a big band on Swingin' with the Terry Gibbs Orchestra. This CD also includes material Terry recorded with his quartet on the Stars of Jazz TV show. We also just received titles by Cat Anderson, Oscar Pettiford (In a Cello Mood, and Octet and Nonet), and Red Callender (Speak Low and Swingin' Suite).

NEW BOOKS AND PLAY-ALONGS:
New book releases features Beginning Ear Training for All Instruments from the folks at Berklee, which we are sure should be an excellent addition to their outstanding catalog of offerings. There are also two brand new Hal Leonard play-alongs featuring classics by Cole Porter and Jerome Kern. Jamey Aebersold has just published the long awaited Etudes for Jazz Piano, which, as its jazz celebrity endorsements state, should truly give pianists new ways to approach practicing. Our friends at Alfred Publishing have also just released On the Beaten Path, a marvelous collection of drum beats and solos from some of the world's greatest drummers, from the world of jazz and elsewhere. We also bring your attention once again to a popular Neil Kjos Music book we just began carrying. It is dedicated to improvisation and is written by Antonio Garcia, and is titled Cutting the Changes: Jazz Improvisation via Key Centers. Garcia takes 13 well-known standards and details the basics of jazz improvisation and gets even the jazz beginner improvising logical and memorable solos. There are five editions available for various instruments. In preparation for the approaching holiday season, we do already have several new Christmas books available for various instruments as well.

In our never-ending desire to present all that is new and interesting, as of this newsletter we have added an amazing total of 307 new big band and combo arrangements for the month of September 2007 and 232 for the month of August 2007; 40 new DVDs for September 2007 and 35 for August 2007; 63 new music books for September 2007 and 71 for August 2007; 88 new CDs for the month of September 2007 and 52 for the month of August 2007.
