Montrose, Jack
At his peak, Jack Montrose was one of the most sought-after small group jazz arrangers in West Coast Jazz, as well as being an accomplished tenor saxophonist. At his peak, he was writing charts for such notables as Clifford Brown and Dave Pell. Drug problems plagued him throughout much of his early career, and he ended up working largely anonymously for the rest of his life from the late 1950s on.
