Featuring a brooding melody and a harmonic underpinning influenced by the second great Miles Davis Quintet, "Another Place, Another Time" is a hauntingly dark piece that can serve well as a mid-performance change of pace for your band. The interlude sections are subdued and feature melodic figures in the bass and left hand piano to lighten the otherwise dense proceedings. The arrangement also features a number of interlocking ensemble parts that will require some attention to make work. Even at its loudest, your band should never become harsh-sounding or overly brassy. Solos are for guitar, alto sax, and trumpet. All trumpets double on flugelhorn.
