Beginning with an appropriately meditative flute-piano duet, "At Peace" gradually eases into a gentle samba groove, with the main melody being passed around the ensemble as the intricacy of the arrangement continues to grow underneath. An open solo section is followed by a shout chorus that is similar to, but not exactly the same as, the initial melody, building to an exciting climax before gradually winding down to conclude on a gentle chord in the trombones and rhythm section.
