Wess, Frank

One of the first great flute soloists in jazz, Frank Wess was also an acclaimed saxophonist and arranger. He gained his biggest fame as a member of the saxophone section of the Count Basie orchestra from 1953 to 1964. He also led sessions as a leader and performed alongside some of the top jazz musicians of the 1950s and beyond until his passing in 2013.
