JULY NOTES: Brand new is another Ella Fitzgerald arrangement from Paul Weston via the Irving Berlin Song Book album, Always. We also recently presented seven arrangements from our friend Stephen Guerra Jr, of Miami's Frost School of Music. Complex, interesting, and highly original, this is a great batch of challenging music.

Also new is Parade of the Wooden Soldiers from the Glenn Miller Orchestra; last week we had another two holiday arrangements from them, the John La Barbera original In the Christmas Mood, and the second of the two Yuletide Medley 2s. Earlier this month we introduced a set of eight of these new Jazz Lines Publications Glenn Miller Orchestra holiday arrangements from the recording of their multi-platinum In the Christmas Mood and In the Christmas Mood II albums. Written by Dave Wolpe, this set contains some of the most beloved holiday favorites as arranged for one of America's most timeless bands. We also just added the PDF version of this set. We now have the entire series of Alfred Publishing's 2023 new issues listed down below; please click here to view them all. John Kirby's well-documented appreciation of classical music should mean it is no surprise that his famous sextet often performed jazz versions of famous classical themes. This Lou Singer arrangement, recorded in 1941 by John Kirby and His Onyx Club Boys, is a playful adaptation of the second movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony.

This publication was prepared using an incomplete set of original parts and the 1941 recording.
