Big Red Blues was written for the 2019 Nebraska "Young Lions" all-star jazz ensemble. It is a swinging, riff-based blues in Eb. Solos can be opened up and designated for anybody in the band. In addition to several rhythmic "tutti" figures, there is a brief unison "soli" passage for trombones and bass, as well as a short sax soli.
