Tom Kubis' arrangement of "Blue Skies" starts out largely in a classic big band mold, but manages to sneak in some occasional tricks along the way. The melody starts in the trombones, gradually building to include the rest of the band before a fun but tricky shout chorus. After the solo section is where things get challenging, with several syncopated rhythmic jabs and form extensions that bring this arrangement into something all its own. The solo section can be opened up for multiple instruments.
