Orchestral in nature, "An American Elegy" was written in tribute to the American spirit in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Features written out trumpet, flute and clarinet solos and requires sensitive playing by the entire band. An emotional and stirring piece. As recorded by Gordon Goddwin's Big Phat Band on 'The Phat Pack.' Alto sax 1 & 2 double on flute. Tenor sax 1 doubles on bass clarinet, trumpets 2-3-4 double on flugelhorn, acoustic guitar (nylon), acoustic bass. Med-difficult.
