Finally, Slide Hampton's incredible music is in print. This wonderful chart was written for the Maynard Ferguson Dream Band. The chart begins with the full band playing a quasi-Asian motif before charging into a bright, swinging tempo. The saxophones play the theme and the chart swings on from there. There is plenty of "open" solo space for just about anyone to play. "Go East, Young Man" is one of the iconic charts in the history of big band composition. 5-5-4-3 or original instrumentation
