AATB, improv in alto and tenor. Inspired by the writings of Chick Corea, this piece is based on fourths and other interesting harmonics. The head is a 12-bar blues in G minor, while the solo sections are modal over a 16-bar repeating pattern. The varied instrumental colors of Christening Blues explore the spectrum of saxophone possibilities with honking, squawking, screaming, slapping, etc.
