Here is a big band salsa composition by trumpeter, producer, composer, and co-leader of the Pacific Mambo Orchestra (PMO), Steffen Kuehn. This is a fiery salsa big band piece reminiscent of the days when the orchestras of Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, and Mario Bauza battled it out among enthusiastic dancers at the famed Palladium Ballroom in New York during the 40's. PMO unites a diverse and talented group of San Francisco musicians and re-creates the sound of that big band mambo era with Cuando Estoy Contigo. This piece can be performed in a concert setting but don't be surprised if you see the audience dancing. This is a medium-difficult piece that will challenge a good band. Solos: vocal, trombone.
