Edition: JAZZ BIG BAND ARRANGEMENT

Description: SWING - MEDIUM DIFFICULT Commissioned by Fred Lange at Davis High School in California. A farewell to his graduating seniors. Piece in three sections. First is a choral in a rubato style (I've been told it sounds like "Georgia" but that was not the original intent.) Some exposed passages for bass trombone. Second section is a swing tune based on "Doxy" changes with interchangable backgrounds so that anyone may solo. This section is a fast swing where the drummer trades "threes" with the ensemble. Tricky ensemble writing. Recap returns to half time swing for a powerful shout chorus and a last statement of the chorale. Bass trombone is again exposed at the end.
