Edition: Jazz Big Band Arrangement

Description: Contemporary - Advanced

Publisher: Walrus Music Publishing

Originally written to feature Kenny Wheeler on flugelhorn, "Heading Back" is a moody, straight-8ths contemporary work by Ian McDougall that features dense polytonal harmonies and an ethereal, dream-like atmosphere in the rhythm section. Flugelhorn and trombone are the featured instruments, and all ensemble figures should be as supportive of them as possible. Be sure to keep your ensemble's volume in check, as the arrangement never gets particularly loud at any time.

Recorded for the "No Passport Required" album. Alternate parts are included that avoid the saxophone doubles.
