How High The Moon is a fast paced, hard-swinging, rip-roaring chart from the Ray Anthony band that will make a great showcase for soloists in your band. The chart opens Db with alternating sectional solis (Trumpets & Saxes, then Trombones, twice) before modulating to G for the solo showcase. There are improvised solos for Trumpet, Alto, Tenor, Trombone and Baritone and the whole thing wraps up with a big shout chorus. At five and a half minutes, this is a long blow, and not an easy chart to play, but if your band can pull it of it will be a showstopper. There are no sax doubles.
