It's All Right with Me has been a favorite Cole Porter standard for jazz musicians for years, and Ella Fitzgerald's version (with an arrangement courtesy of Buddy Bregman) serves as one of the finest interpretations of this classic. The arrangement swings from the downbeat to the conclusion, with fun to be had for singer and instrumentalists alike along the way.

Commencing with some simple but effective horn riffs, the ensemble wisely stays out of the way of Fitzgerald's powerhouse vocals during the main melody. The only exception to this is when trumpeter Harry 'Sweets' Edison injects some of his trademark beeps behind Fitzgerald on the tune's bridge. Roaring to life for the melody's final strain, the horns launch into a soli at measure 69. The trombone section handles a modified melody at first before the drums get a chance to play some fills around the full group to break things up a bit. Fitzgerald returns at measure 85 with instrumental accompaniment directly copied from before, ultimately finishing off with some quick, blunt brass jabs.

A note: Edison's trumpet part consisted only of chord changes for fills behind Fitzgerald's vocals. We have included those changes in the 4th trumpet part, as well as providing an optional 5th part that mimics what Edison's part consisted of in Bregman's original score. So, this arrangement may be played by a standard trumpet section of four players.
