This Manny Albam arrangement of the Duke Ellington standard Main Stem was recorded by the Terry Gibbs Dream Band in 1961. Performed live at the Summit Club in Hollywood, CA, this tune was released on the Dream Band's album 'Main Stem: The Terry Gibbs Dream Band, Volume 4.' An open piano solo starts the arrangement and leads to the melody which is played by the altos, trumpet 4, and the vibraphone. Solos are featured for vibraphone, tenor saxophone, and trumpet. There are great backgrounds and subtle reharmonizations throughout the arrangement. This chart may be opened up for any number of solos (on Eb blues). There are no saxophone doubles.
