Although Marciac may be located in France, this movement takes heavy cues from Brazilian street festival music with its light, dance-able samba groove. The presence of clarinet soaring over the top of the ensemble sections adds more than a hint of New Orleans parade atmosphere, as well. Be careful to not get tripped up by the quick key changes that pop up on occasion. Soloists on the original recording are Victor Goines on clarinet, Wess Anderson on alto sax, Marsalis on trumpet and Wycliffe Gordon on trombone.
