A straight-ahead swinger from top to bottom, "Round and Round" manages to merge the feeling of a small group jazz performance with an all-out big band blast. The melody is simple, amiable, and catchy, and the harmonic underpinning (which stays constant throughout most of the arrangement) is warm and inviting. Although the shout chorus at the end is loud and exciting, it also maintains an inviting quality that will captivate the ears of your audience and musicians alike. The arrangement doesn't contain many difficult figures, but the shout chorus is a bit of an extended blow for the brass section. Solos are for piano and tenor sax. All trumpets double on flugelhorn.
