North Greenbush Blues is a medium swing (or it can be done as a shuffle) minor blues that features baritone sax, alto sax and piano for solos. The opening melody performed by alto and bari (with an ensemble background second time) is followed by a call and response shout chorus between brass and saxes leading to the bari solo. A 4 bar ensemble "send off" leads to the alto solo. Each solo section has a background by the band that can be either "as written" or "open." After the alto is the piano solo also with an ensemble background that can be on cue. The piano background takes the chart from D minor to F and finally G blues for the final shout choruses. This is the chart that is performed on Phil Allen's Concert Jazz Band CD North Greenbush Blues.
