The arragnement begins with an a capella brass section later joined by 4 flutes and a bass clarinet. Alto sax 2 is featured on a fully written out solo section. I Came Upon a Midnight Clear is where the rhythm section joins in with a swing waltz feel. The guitar is featured throughout the second section. The saxophones close out the arrangement with very high notes (see ranges). This may be played down an octave if need be. This was recorded by Rob McConnell on the Big Band Christmas album.
