In the jazz life over the years this wonderful song by Kurt Weill (1944), has more often than not been played at a fast tempo. This chart is quite slow (quarter note = 110) and alternates between 12/8 and swing feels. This orchestration of Rob's is of an arrangement of George Shearing's (with some input from Neil Swainson, Rob's good friend, and his bassist of the last 15 years or so). The arrangement features a bass solo. The trombone 2 part is optional and included is an optional baritone saxophone part that may be used in place of the tenor saxophone 2 part.
