SEPTEMBER NOTES: We are extremely pleased to present newly re-edited 25th anniversary editions of some Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington classics. Recently added to the site are the new editions of Caravan, Cotton Tail, I Got it Bad (and That Ain't Good), Kinda Dukish/Rockin' in Rhythm, and one that had been out of print for years, Harlem Airshaft.
We have yet another from our friend John La Barbera as written for the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Frosty the Snowman. Also new is John's arrangement of Winter Wonderland.
We also released a newly-engraved Jazz Lines Publications edition of Bob Florence's Willowcrest, now with a full score. Originally written for and recorded by the Buddy Rich Orchestra, this version is an updated arrangement that was recorded by Florence's Limited Edition on their 1987 album Trash Can City. Its brisk pace and dramatic intensity make for a challenging but highly enjoyable experience for players and listeners alike.
We'd also like to point out John Wasson's new big band arrangement of the Charlie Parker standard Billie's Bounce; released in early August, this has been among the most popular new releases we have seen in years, so we highly recommend checking it out; please click here to view paper and PDF versions.
NEW PDF DOWNLOADABLE ARRANGEMENTS NOTES: With the addition of Willowcrest and the brand new 25th anniversary Essentially Ellington Editions, we presented 24 brand new and newly-available PDF downloadable arrangements available in September--also available is Michael Philip Mossman's great big band chart on Ran Kan Kan. In addition to Winter Wonderland, we also have Jason "Spicy G" Goldman's highly creative take on I Concentrate on You, Mike Sweeney's easy Latin Fly Me to the Moon chart, a later Thad Jones chart in Forever Flower, and more.
