Taken at a gentle 3/4 groove, Querencia is a musical slow burn, starting off mellow and minimalistic, but gradually swelling in both complexity and intensity as the performance goes on. The middle of the arrangement is dominated by a trumpet solo that should involve a sizable amount of interaction between soloist and ensemble. The rhythm section should view their parts effectively as melody figures of their own, rather than accompaniment for the horns.
