Written for the California State University Northridge Jazz Band B, Sherisse Rogers's Tell Me Your Secret is a slow, loping swing that features a number of alternating time signatures, so counting is imperative for a successful performance. After a counterpoint-heavy melody, the arrangement gives way to an extended tenor sax solo before returning to a series of melodic motifs atop an ominously ascending bass line. After building to a thrilling climax, the horns drop out and the rhythm section gradually fades away into nothingness for a highly pleasing conclusion.
