Edition: Jazz Big Band Arrangement

Description: Ballad - Medium Difficult

Publisher: Jazz at Lincoln Center

This ballad was written for the Elliot Lawrence Orchestra in 1955 and is reminiscent of the Claude Thornhill band. He wrote it as a courteous farewell to clarinets in big bands since he loathed writing for them. It's also called Elegy for Two Clarinets. Part of the 2024-25 Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Program. The solos for tenor saxophone and trumpet have been transcribed.
